The kernel of PCM-3201 is the ALS120 chip that are the industry standard music synthesizers found in most personal computer audio boards. The ALS uses FM synthesis techniques that are proprietary to Avance Logic. The ALS120 single chip audio solution integrates audio CODEC, DOS games compatibility and D/A converter with FM synthesis in one package. The ALS120 replaces some of devices used in current Soundblaster compatible audio subsystem.
